So, as you may have heard, Asuka and I are expecting a new family member a little later this year. I'm both excited and nervous, but I'm really looking forward to being a dad.

I haven't really been around much on here lately, due to the preparations we've been needing to do both at home and at SAI as well. I'll be taking a bit of a step back from SAI to concentrate on family, but on the days when I'm not around, I know my staff will be able to keep the place running smoothly.

After the brief existential terror I had at becoming a dad before you did - congratulations!

Obviously if there's any duties you or Shinoko want to shift over to OOPARTS in the wake of this to keep workload at a minimum, I wouldn't mind helping.

I'll let Mr. and Mrs. Yuuki chime in but I think it should be more shared responsibility than anything, rather than shifted.

I feel like we should cooperate regarding Spirits and Psychics somehow, but I'm unsure as to how.

I'm in agreement, obviously, though I'm unsure as to how to coordinate efforts. OOPARTS has always been the uh... 'self-defense' arm of our efforts, for lack of more politely phrased terms for it.

We do still have a separate R&D wing, and I'm obviously got the experience to fabricate something if there's anything we can do to help in an equipment sense, but you'll have to let me argue with Moeko about budget - I got some good grace to operate from the Duel Guards, but...

Also I appreciate the offer, though I agree with Shinoko that it should be more a shared responsibility. The relationship between SAI and OOPARTS is essential to both our work and we should keep that balance, rather than shifting work.

Heh, that's fair. I just figure if there's anything I can do to take the workload off temporarily while things are shifting around internally it'll be a boon for you guys later on down the line. OOPARTS is as steady of a ship as she's always been.

I guess the better way to phrase the question is "is there anything you need from OOPARTS right now that I can maybe kick into gear to make your transition to fatherly life a little simpler"?

I think right now all we need to make sure on is that you guys will be able to work with my staff smoothly without major input from me. You'll be mostly getting input from Shinoko when I'm not there, since she'll be doing most of the 'heavy lifting' for us as she put it.

That's more than easy enough for me to do, so consider it done.

And I definitely will be. It is a difficult move to make, but I know SAI runs fine without me being there all the time.
My own parents missed... a lot with me, through being workaholics and I know how lonely that was, so I want to make sure I don't make the same mistake.

I was more gonna say it for your responsibility, and the fact that once the kid is born, you're probably gonna be run ragged...

But there's that, too. Learn from what they did and didn't do, I guess.
