Event Post 49 - A Cute Surprise

*Hey Sakana peoples~ Juudai is entering the apartment building with Pharaoh following him close behind. He's carrying a plastic bag on one arm and seems to be holding something in his arms, wrapped up in the jacket he was probably wearing earlier in the day. Wanna take a look what he's got?*

"GRAAAAAAH!" Annette comes at Pharaoh with a baseball bat.

*Juudai... makes sure to stand in front of Pharaoh a little, but he gives Annette a smile and offers her to look under the jacket*

Take a look! It's why Pharaoh was stealing food.

Haha, pretty much. It's just a little one though.

*Nina pokes her head out of her door.*

"Hmm? What's going on?"

*Juudai looks towards Nina, looking a bit puzzled. He then smiles*

Ah, you must be a new neighbour. I'm Yuuki Juudai, nice to meet you! *He gestures towards the tan coloured cat following him* This is my cat, Pharaoh! Aaand... *He looks down at what he's holding and moves the jacket a bit to reveal the kitten* ... this little thing is what he recently found... ah.... she's a little scared at the moment.

"..." *Nina tries really, really, really hard to not go SQUEE and take the kitten for her own.*

"Uh, I'm Nina Briar. ...Is there anything I can do to help?

Ah, for now the vet told me she just needs to rest and be fed regularly and stuff. She wasn't too well when I found her but she perked up a little after they gave her some food she could actually eat.

...could of done without the vet bill for her but... ah... she's worth it in the end.

"A-ah. Well, at least you're taking care of her. I can get you some free food for the cat and cheap food for you, if you want, Juudai. I don't know if you remember, but I said I'm running that new restaurant in Domino."

"Ah, it's best to keep up good PR, Juudai. A-and I want to see that kitten grow up to be big and strong... Maybe not as big as the one behind you."

*Juudai laughs a little at that*

You'd be surprised how fast he runs despite his size.
But yeah, I'm glad I'm able to give this little thing a chance.

*Nina reaches out to pet the kitten, rather gently.*

"Does it have a name yet?"

*The kitten seems to calm down slightly as she's petted. Juudai thinks and remembers the name Daitokuji gave to her*

Ah, her name is Cairo.

*Nina smiles at the kitten, rather happy that she's gotten it to stop freaking out a little.*

"Cairo and Pharaoh... I'm sensing a theme, Juudai." *she smiles and laughs a bit.*

Aki happens to be walking through the complex with a small plastic bag of her own clutched in her hand. She stops in her tracks upon glimpsing Judai and, more importantly, Pharaoh. She approaches both of them and tries to keep her eyes on the former rather than the latter.

"Judai...I was wondering if you knew that your cat was bothering some of the younger residents."

*Juudai stops as he hears Aki's voice and then smiles at her*

Ah, yeah, I know. I think I solved why he was doing that!

*With that his eyes look down at the jacket he's holding in his arms, it's obvious something is wrapped up in it*

"...Why he was...?" Aki is compelled to peer closer at the bundle.

*Juudai continues smiling as he moves the jacket a little to reveal a tiny kitten underneath*

He was stealing food from them to try and feed this little thing!

"A...a kitten!?" Aki takes a step back in surprise. "I haven't seen one since I was..." :'It looks...so terrified...':

"I...I see," Aki is slowly backing away, keeping her eyes on Cairo. "Well...I'm glad you took care of the problem, then."

A-ah! I don't think it's just you she's scared of! She's been like this since I found her.

Aki stops backing away, pauses, and then slowly steps forward again, hesitantly extending a hand toward Cairo.

*Cairo still looks scared, but doesn't look like she's going to lash out or anything*

Very slowly, Aki lightly touches the kitten's head, first with the tip of her finger, before moving it to behind Cairo's ear. She lightly half-rubs, half-scratches the top and back of the cat's head, looking ready to pull her hand back at any moment.

*The small kitten tenses at her touch at first, but as Aki pets her head, Cairo begins to relax. Eventually she shuffles and lifts her head up slightly to see who's scratching her head.
Content with the petting, she eventually curls up in Juudai's arms and just lets Aki continue*

Aki eventually smiles slightly as her uneasiness dissipates. She pets Cairo a little longer, before giving her a final scratch behind both ears and pulling her hand back, and looking up at Judai. "...Take good care of her."
